Michael Heeney: Vermont Photographer with Over 20 Years of Experience

How did you start your business, and what was your inspiration?
I started my business slowly over 20 years ago while I was still assisting other photographers and as I was honing my digital retouching skills. My background is in fine art photography and I decided to apply that creativity to the commercial realm.
What's your favorite part about what you do and why?
Each shoot presents its own challenges, problems, and riddles. I love to figure them out and learn from them each and every time.
Describe a recent project, client success story, or achievement that you're especially proud of.
I recently started working with a very successful handmade glassware company that has been in business for over 50 years. The founder of the company reviewed my work and said that it was fantastic and that he loved the lighting. I’m still feeling warm and fuzzy about that.
What should potential clients know before hiring someone in your field?
Their portfolio should speak for itself. If you like what they’ve done in the past and you think that they can apply their style to your brand, hire them! It is an investment and your brand is worth it.
Is there anything else you'd like to share about your business, your process, or how people can work with you?
I have a full service 1600sq ft studio in Burlington, and I also love shooting on-location lifestyle photography. Get in touch if I can be of service!
